I/we desire to represent Rice University by participating in the 2026 48th Annual Houston Pride Parade (the “Activity”) as part of Rice’s sponsored walking group and, in consideration of permission to do so, hereby acknowledge and agree as follows:

1. I shall be solely responsible and liable for paying all costs and expenses related to my/our participation in the Activity. Rice University (i) serves only in a capacity of assisting in making arrangements for services and products to be provided by others in connection with the Activity, and (ii) in no way serves as an agent or representative for these other parties, or accepts any responsibility or liability for their services or products. Such services and products are subject only to the terms and conditions under which they are provided by such other parties.
2. I am fully informed or otherwise aware of, and fully assume, all risks to person and property in connection with my/our participation in the Activity, including, but not limited to, property damage and loss, bodily injuries, sickness, disease and death. I state that I and any minors I may register for participation are in sufficient health and able to participate (with or without an accommodation) in the Activity, and I will contact the program organizers if there is a need to request an accommodation. I understand that Rice University is not providing any insurance for me/us in connection with my/our participation in the Activity, and I affirm that I/we have medical insurance coverage appropriate for my/our participation in the Activity and that I will carry proof of that coverage for myself and for any participating minors whom I may register to participate in the Activity on my person during my/our participation in the Activity.
3. I agree that if I register or otherwise assume responsibility for the participation in the Activity of any minor children that I will be solely responsible for the safety of said minor children and for their full compliance with the terms of this agreement.
4. I/we shall comply with all applicable laws and all policies of Rice University, including its alcohol and drug-free policies, while participating in the Activity. If my/our participation in the Activity should at any time be deemed detrimental to the Activity or any of its participants, as determined by Rice University in its sole discretion, I understand that (i) I/we may be expelled from the Activity without Rice University incurring any liability, (ii) I/we may incur liability to Rice University under this Agreement, and (iii) I/we may be subject to further disciplinary action by Rice University.
5. I understand that the Activity is a widely photographed and video recorded event. I hereby grant Rice University (“Rice”) and its employees, independent contractors, and invited media guests the irrevocable right to use my image, voice and name in print, photographs, and video and audio recordings in connection with programs or publications prepared or facilitated by Rice’s Office of Public Affairs. I also give consent to Rice to disclose my biographical information, comments and quotations that I provided in connection with these programs or publications. I understand that this use may include publications and distribution in printed, electronic and digital media available to the general public, including, but not limited to, program materials and brochures, video and audio broadcast programs, website publication, email newsletters, social media and online communications and news reports. I affirm that I have the right or permission to grant these same permissions on behalf of any minor children for whose participation in the Activity I may assume responsibility. I hereby release, waive and discharge Rice and its trustees, employees, independent contractors and invited media guests from any and all demands, claims, causes of action, damages and liabilities directly or indirectly arising out of any use of my/our image, voice or name under this grant/permission.
6. I fully and forever RELEASE, WAIVE AND DISCHARGE, and COVENANT NOT TO SUE, Rice University (including, but not limited to, its trustees, employees and representatives) from and for any and all demands, claims, actions, suits, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including, but not limited to, court costs and attorneys' fees), from any cause whatsoever (including, but not limited to, property damage and loss, bodily injuries, sickness, disease and death), directly or indirectly arising in connection with my/our participation in the Activity, set up for the Activity, practice for the Activity, or transition to or from the Activity, whether or not foreseeable or contributed to by the negligent acts or omissions of Rice or others.
7. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement about the subject matters it addresses and is governed by the laws of the State of Texas. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unenforceable this will not affect any other provision and this Agreement shall be construed as if the unenforceable provision had not been incorporated in this Agreement.
8. I (i) have fully read and understood this Agreement, (ii) intend that this Agreement be legally binding and enforceable upon me and my family, estate, heirs and legal representatives, (iii) intend that this Agreement benefit Rice University, and (iv) confirm that I am at least eighteen years old, fully competent, and entering into this Agreement voluntarily of my own judgement. I acknowledge that I am voluntarily choosing to participate in the activity and am not required to participate by Rice.
